Attilio Piazza is the translator of the Italian version of The Diamond Cutter, ?Il Tagliatore di Diamanti? and founder of Centro Studi Piazza, which began in 1990, providing professional training, inter-family counseling and therapy.??? The first of three new Diamond Cutter Discussion group events in Italy kicked off this week as a newly formed Venice-based group came together to begin discussions on the principles and ways to apply them.??? Events will also take place in Milan on Friday September 12 and Rimini (near Florence) the week of September 16.
Attilio Piazza has been very active in Italy, bringing together discussion groups in three areas and helping them to get started.? After translating The Diamond Cutter into Italian and helping it's release in February 2008, he found that interest among readers began to naturally develop into a desire for discussion groups.?
"I found The Diamond Cutter because a friend mentioned it, and I loved it" says Attilio.?? I read it over and over and it became one of the books that I was paying close attention to."?? He is now encountering many people who are reading the book and want to talk about it.? "They want to exchange experiences and start growing with it... It's about being aware of the consequences of your thinking, your words and your actions... to have an awareness that basically you get what you think and you get what you speak, you get what you do."??
The Venice group met for the first time on Sunday September 7th.??? "In Milano I will be introducing the idea next Friday, and I expect about 50 people to come.?? And then next week I will meet with about a dozen people around here (in Rimini)...I want them to be free to connect in whatever way is most powerful for them..."??
Areas of discussion will include charitable donations....how and why to do this.? "What are their insights about why is it good to donate, and what are their mental afflictions about that?"? Attilio was able to purchase the first (50) copies of "Il Tagliatore di Diamanti" from the publisher at half-price, and the profits from the sales of these books will go to charity as an example.?
Attllio believes that people reading the book in Italy have started to recognize the potential in the ideas presented... "there is a lot of 'good with a capital G' that people want...not just their own good...they understand that there can't be good without wishing good for others... and also they understand that before wealth there is well-being. ? Attilio's approach to leading and nurturing a meaningful and worthwhile discussion group is "Keep it simple.? Keep it simple.? Keep it very human, you know even if you know a little bit more, listen.? Then there will be open issues- use the (online) forum to ask for advice"
